Cool stuff to do in Dubai this summer

Have you ever watched the movie The Big Blue? Have you ever wanted to feel the sensation of being in the blue without any scuba tank and enjoying the silence? How about taking yourself and your mind to another dimension?

Learn to freedive, it will give you confidence in the water and a fantastic feeling of achievement. I am the Instructor, Sara-Lise Haith, and will be happy to show you how to breath and relax and enjoy some very chilled out moments in the water.

The next AIDA 2 star freediving course will be held at Al Boom Diving Club on the following dates:

7 June – Theory session – 18h00 – 21h00
8th June – Theory session – 18h00 – 21h00
9th June – Pool session – 18h00 – 21h00

Open water dives to be agreed with student’s preferred timing.

Price of course: AED 2,430
This is all inclusive (materials, DAN insurance; boat rides and cert card)

The AIDA ** freediver course is the foundation freediving course covering the necessary skills and knowledge for a non competitive recreational freediver to safely freedive with or without a guide line. It is designed to be a freediving beginners course for students who are already confident and happy in the water. The purpose of the course is to familiarise the student with the skills, knowledge, planning, organisation, safety procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and enjoyment of breath hold freediving. Students will be introduced to the basic disciplines of freediving; Static Apnea, Dynamic Apnea and Constant Weight freediving.

The course is NOT aiming toward competitive freediving and shall not include competition rules and regulations. The static and dynamic sessions are to be used to teach breathing, relaxation, finning and safety techniques. In the OW sessions the student will use the skills they have learned in the pool sessions and will combine these with the basic skills of OW freediving such as equalizing, duck diving, vertical swimming, body positioning.

Freediving equipment is required for best performance. This should include the following items:

1) Wetsuit with hood, neoprene socks and gloves (gloves are optional, hood is recommended)
2) Long freediving fins
3) Snorkel and low volume mask (Cressi SuperOcchio recommended)
4) Rubber weightbelt

If you do not have any Freediving equipment you can rent some from me or alternatively come in to Al Boom Diving club and view their selection from Cressi.
